Hootie & the Blowfish front man, Darius Rucker has gone country with his second solo effort. On Learn To Live, we get the his golden voice backed by traditional country music. Rucker co-wrote 11 out of the 12 tracks and has already scored 2 number 1 country hits with Don't Think I Don't Think About It and It Won't Be Like This For Long. Both are ballads which feature Rucker's distinct vocals and heart wrenching storytelling. Like This tells us "tt won’t be like this for long / One day soon that little girl is gonna be / All grown up and gone" which truly reminds us all how short life really is.

The album also features several great uptempo tracks including the latest single Alright, Forever Road, and the album's title track. On Learn he waxes on that "you gotta live to learn, you gotta crash and burn / you gotta make some stances, and take some chances / you gotta live and love, and take all life has to give / you gotta live and learn, so you can learn to live." And for those honky tonk purist Rucker even sprinkles in a few true country tracks like post break-up All I Want and the end of the night Drinkin' And Dialin'. These are just fun country songs that you can't but help to sing along to. If I were to buy just one country album this year, it would be Learn To Live.
